Electronic Medical Billing

As with anything today we are seeing an increase in the way in which tasks are completed. For this particular write up we are talking about the process of electronic medical billing. This is taking the place of traditional medical billing companies in that doctors and hospitals are able to electronically send out bills, receive payments, and communicate with insurance companies like never before. This is paving the way for software providers to enable them to go out and create more products for these doctors and hospitals to allow them the opportunity to save money from outsourcing and still be effective in terms of the time that it takes to get stuff done.

Medical billing services are the way by which a self employed person or a larger company makes their money. They work with the doctors patient list to make sure that the doctor gets paid and that the insurance company is backing whatever is happening. If you are a not so busy doctor you would have no problem doing this on your own, however with people getting sick at the rate we see these days it is unlikely that very many doctors have the time or resources to take care of patients and still work with insurance companies to collect payments.

Before all of the medical billing work was outsourced to a medical billing company and for a fee this particular company would collect on your dues. With the change in technology that we are currently noticing however you see more and more computer software is performing these tasks as a half of the price and the labor. This is why electronic medical billing could soon be much bigger than any medical billing provider, and in the event that it comes about no one will be willing or able to pay a provider for the work when they can do it in house at a fraction of the cost.

When a doctor is able to do something or purchase something that will seemingly make their lives easier there is no doubt in anyone mind that they will do it. In this particular scenario all that the doctor would have to do is hire a secretary to get the software to spit out the invoices and information necessary to make all of the changes and collect the charges the same way a large company would.

This new form of software is happening across all industries and if we see it continue onward there is reason to believe that in 10-20 years from now we will be using software for virtually every task at hand. No more business to business transactions, checks, or cash, all technology and software. Times are changing, are you ready? Chances are that if you are not, now is a good time to start looking into the various software applications that are already available and see if there is any way you can make a systems integration and be as ahead of the curb as possible.

Very nice article. I couldn't agree more. We, as a medical technology company, began in 2005 with web-based electronic medical record and a full-service billing department to incorporate an integrated billing service for our EMR customers. As medical technology needs increasingly require the efficiency and affordability of a centralized system, the need for electronic billing software has become apparent. We are currently rolling out the first web-based psychiatric billing platform and are quite excited about it.
